So the UK will have yet another leader who was not elected by the general public.

The UK has never had a Prime Minister who was elected by the general public.

But usually they have some vague idea who the party they vote for in a general election will propose for Prime Minister.

(Minor problem for the poor buggers in Norn Ireland being that the”national” parties don’t put up candidates in Norn Ireland).
