You know, I am just about at the point I expect the aliens to appear and say, “The virus was a test. Based on it we have decided that your species is too stupid to be allowed to live and potentially threaten intelligent live elsewhere in the galaxy.”

After which they obliterate us in some ironic way. (Perhaps saving a few examples for their zoo to serve as a bad example.)
