The shul I used to belong to, they had handouts for visiting gentiles to explain how the service worked.
That might be a good idea for these folks too.
I was privileged once to attend a service of a Church of God with Signs and Wonders (commonly called “snake-handlers”) congregation.
Mysticism is everywhere - we understand and appreciate the ecstatic practices of shamans in the Amazon, but look down our collective noses at such things when our own neighbors are involved. A peculiarity of Man’s disposition - we are more open to the strange than to the familiar.
