What has confused me beyond belief is Trump’s continued assertion that other countries need to pay us for help. I understand an active, even hawkish foreign policy. I understand a more withdrawn, even isolationist foreign policy. But running a world wide protection racket just confuses me - at least given the current world stage (it would absolutely make sense for the British or Spanish or French Empires of the 17th and 18th centuries to take this tack, but the US in the 21st century?). But then, I also remember that he is an idiot of epic proportions that has no interest in even trying to understand the game.
