I think it’s that and when you live in a place that your ancestors more or less have lived in for generations, you are threatened when you may lose it. Not excusing IRA or Unionist violence by any means but I think that’s a factor too. I also think the Troubles is much more complicated than Catholic v. Protestant.

There’s always a lot of reasons for anything, we are a big complex world and have been for a very long time. But I think if you get down to the very core of any conflict is usually comes down to either “you have something I want” or “you’re trying to take something I have”.
