In our part of the world, deer have to be culled as they are a blight on the landscape and destroy forests. But the hunting is not done during the breeding and fawning season

Deer in the USA are hunted primarily because their natural predators have been wiped out, coupled with agriculture providing much more food stock for them.

Here the big hunting seasons are for deer, elk, antelope, and Canada geese.
