I thought the Arthur thing was iffy since the people spreading it were his political enemies. I am familiar with it though since Arthur’s fil is the name sake of a town near where I grew up.

Gen. Philip Sheridan is one of my g-g-uncles (his parents are my g-g-g-grandparents).
There was serious talk of him making a presidential bid, but the rumors were floated that he was born on the ship coming to the US from Ireland, instead of being born in Albany, NY. (there was no birth certificate, just a baptismal certificate).
