Just change the method of execution to bullet-in-the-head and fill the job of executioner by conscription so that if a person can vote there is a chance they could be called upon to kill a stranger at close range and in a bloody manner.

I’ve found most death penalty supporters aren’t in favour of that. I’m not a killer!

And they thought jury duty sucked. Better yet: Draft people to pull the lanyard on the guillotine, and equip them with mops, towels, coveralls, and lots of detergent and bleach for the clean-up afterward.
