In your scenario, the FCC would be forced to step in and mandate that your ILEC (CenturyLink) continue your wire-line service or one of the big 4 Cellular Providers (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint) establish service. I’m actually surprised that there isn’t some small mom-and-pop operated cell service out in your neck of the woods - but then again, when you look at the coverage maps, some areas do look rather sparse - when I traveled through Wisconsin, I would see several odd named carriers pop up on my cell phone - my most memorable one was - honest to god was named “Bugtussel Wireless”.

Anybody remember what TV series Bugtussel was mentioned in ?
