I should clarify. I had the diesel Rabbit with a whopping 52 hp. It got great fuel mileage - turning in 50 mpg tanks in the midsummer was awesome - but absolutely no guts at all.

When I bought the GTI, there was a beautiful black Jetta with all the bells and whistles, including an automatic. They were offering it at SUBSTANTIAL discount.

It was a diesel.

Even the salesman said it couldn’t get out of its own way.
