re: #186 Rightwingconspirator

There was an idea to reduce seating. Theaters were talking about what would amount to a checkerboard arrangement. 6 feet between seated tables at restaurants. But I can’t imagine that being financially sustainable.

The two big chains (AMC and Regency) both announced this week that they’re closing their theaters for 6-12 weeks. My sister found out when she went in yesterday and was informed that after her shift tomorrow, the most her GM could promise is she’d try to keep those personnel considered “essential” paid by having them come in to do cleaning and maintenance work.

My parents are a little luckier, as both not only work for civil service, but both are basically dubbed “essential” to their respective commands. My dad in particular lucked out because the engine shop he works in has less than 10 people regularly anyway and they all work in their own bays.

As for me, my situation is…fluid. Working at a hotel front desk means if tourism falls off a cliff, there’s no guarantee you’ll have a job over the long-term. We were already running a skeleton crew due to the winter months, so there’s not a lot of people that can be cut from the staff before we’re unable to operate. And as of 2 days ago, we were on course to be down to 1/3 capacity by Friday. I honestly have no clue if I’m going to have a job past Friday, or how long I’ll have one before corporate shuts us down.
