Gorsuch was raised Catholic, but apparently attends an episcoplal church now. Roberts, Alito, Thomas, Sotomayor, and Kavanaugh are apparently all catholic though. Didn’t realize there were so many Catholics on the court.

It’s long been an unspoken practice of both parties to nominate Catholics, as they are viewed as having a religiously-centred set of morals. Protestants less so, and if you nominated an atheist Christians would set fire to the White House.
