By the way, the song is an Israeli song from the 1970’s (post Yom Kippur War) and translates:

In a red dress and two braids,
a lone, small and innocent girl
stood and asked - why?
and all the cannons, and all the soldiers
and all of the adults and all of the wise people,
were ashamed and couldn’t find an answer

and all of the volcanoes and all of the storms
and all of the lions and all of the leopards

Now I know why it sounded so familiar! I was living in Israel then and all the bus drivers played it on their radios.
