Sexual relations between males have to bee seen outside the purely (homo)sexual context: in British boarding schools, they simply served to establish the social order, in the military or in other situations where men spent long periods isolated from women, it was often seen as unhealthy to let sexual urges go unfulfilled, and so relations with men were tolerated or even accepted.

And don’t even get me started on the Hellenic Greeks…
