It’s only in the last few years that George Gordon Meade has finally been given the credit he deserves. That’s for doubling that point down, WIL.

I have believed for a very long time that Meade was one of the best generals in the US Army’s history. I have nothing against Grant and it is a credit to his honor how well Meade worked under him. That said, had Grant not been called east, I do believe Meade would have ended the war in about the same amount of time.

History is a fickle & funny thing. General George Henry Thomas anyone?
