Well yeah, in university you should learn to challenge stuff you hear, and then a lot of right-wing spouted bollock doesn’t hold-up…

However, the ‘she fears you’ stuff sometimes irritates me a little. Rape by strangers, how horrible it is - is something that is very rare, and an overwhelming majority of the rape cases involve someone that knows the victim. I sometimes have the idea that this fear of strangers is a little instilled in people, and it does kinda hurt when someone is changing the side of the street b/c I’m walking towards them (and I’m by no means someone who’s large, muscular (ha!) or looks threatening.

The other side of the ‘rape culture’ coin are the drastic measures that colleges take to combat this, setting up ‘courts’ that can expel students for effectively ‘he-says-she-says’ situations.
Here’s a good, balanced piece on reason.com, normally I don’t like this man-rights bullshit but I feel that this is valid critique.
