I’m just stunned that Kilgore actually thinks anyone would support him and his secession movement, after he said they should be put to death. Does he really think that there are a significant number of gay people living in Texas who hate the federal government so much, that they’d rather live in a country where they could be put to death for being gay? Why would they support him, when if he succeeded in his goal of getting Texas out of the Union, he would turn around and advocate that they be put to death? Why would he think that they would regard the federal government as a bigger enemy than him, since he openly supported putting them to death for their “life style”

It would be like, if Kilgore was a racist, and he said this to a group of black people,

Look I am a white person, I support taking away your right to vote and bringing back segregation, and slavery, but we can debate those issues after Texas secedes from the Union. Right now we have a common enemy

And then expected black Texans to support him in large numbers because the federal government would be so much worse somehow.

Why would gay people support him, if he could succeed, and he and people like him would turn Texas into the equivalent of a North American Uganda?
