Well, sure, those are the numbers now, but I bet if the Democrats dug further into this with televised hearings with witnesses and everything, the public would quickly rally around the president.

A month *into* the famous Ervin Committee hearings, the percentage supporting Nixon’s removal was still down in the teens.
