The studios want to make money in foreign markets as well, and “America” doesn’t sell very well at all these days overseas. We are no longer seen as the defender of liberty. We are seen as a bully and a defender of torture and abuse. (However you feel about “harsh intorrogations”, that is how much of the rest of the world views us now. It will take generations to repair that.)
