NRA Members Agree: More Gun Regulation Makes Sense

I don’t own guns, but a lifetime ago, they were part pf my job at the time — and as you might have guessed by LGF moniker, I am left of center. I am also a parent with a child who is in the same age group as the victims of this horrible, horrible tragedy. That being said, every person I know who owns guns is a responsible member of this society in every aspect. I am not going to hold them, or their belief in the second amendment against them — nor is there any reason to hold these people responsible for the murderous actions of the ugliest members of our society. As much as I do believe we have to find better means with which to make these weapons less available to almost anyone who wants one, we also have to put more funding and target more research into critical issues of mental health. When a person slides down the long dark slope of insanity and explodes in a fashion such as this, they will find a way to butcher, maim and kill by whatever means they have at hand. Yes — guns do make the job easier as they were created, modified and improved to be efficient, but they, in and of themselves are simply a tool to achieve an outcome. Jefferey Dahlmer, Jack the Ripper, the Boston Strangler and Hawley Crippen all used different tools, but the outcome was the same …
