I’m torn here… It’s obvious that limiting, or highly regulating who can own and use a gun would have ‘some effect’ on how successful these mass shooters are, however, it’s true that there are millions upon millions of gun owners (100+ million), many own AR-15s and the like. Even an assault weapons ban wouldn’t take the already owned (around 100 million) assault weapons off the street… I don’t know, high capacity mags suffer from the same problem, I know guys with dozens of them… If there was a rash of people making bombs from highly available home chemicals, would we outlaw draino? I have to admit, I have been passing around antigun statements and possible legislative moves on FB, but the other side is convincing me that there can be no law that impacts the scope of this problem, outside of amending the constitution, and that won’t happen… I’m really being convinced that this IS a mental health issue, and not a fire arm issue. (Disclaimer: I have never even held a gun before, so I’m not an expert)
