I think that Vietnam was the first war that the US got ‘real time’ coverage on, and reporters who weren’t scrubbed or affiliated by the military or some major media organization.

And the televising of the war helped bring it to an end. Better when we see the shit, rather than having to deal with vague letters and returning damaged vets who will not speak a word of the horrors.
