By “removing the whip,” he’s ejected them from the Conservative Party. While they’re not fired, they are cut off from any support from the party and if they choose to run for reelection they will either have to join another party or run as independents. It’s a bit more formal version of those Congresscritters here in the States who get cut off financially by their party when they cross the leadership one too many times. Sort of like what Steve King is going through right now.

I was wondering about this, also: does the PM have the authority to boot Party members on his own say-so, or does it have to be done by some other body (Committee?)
