Cease-Fire Declared in Gaza

Only in Gaza do you have people celebrating the side that continues to take the heavier toll - whether in casualties or material losses. Buildings and infrastructure damaged, terrorists eliminated, missile inventories reduced (both by firing them at Israel and by IDF strikes eliminating them before they could be fired).

They’ve continuing to live the delusion that they somehow win every time they fight Israel.

But that mindset is why Israel can’t actually win a war against Hamas or Fatah - their enemy simply doesn’t cast victory in the same terms. Fighting Israel to a stalemate is a win. Losing is winning. Enduring more casualties is winning. Inflicting casualties (as limited as they are) on Israel is winning. Getting Israel to hit civilians is winning.

And Hamas’ long term goal remains intact - seeking Israel’s destruction and indoctrinating yet another generation to that view. Hamas’ leadership remains largely intact as well - as many of their top leaders aren’t exactly leading from the front.

Addendum: More to the point, Hamas and Gazans claim win even as they didn’t achieve anything they sought in the latest round (end of blockade, opening up crossings to unfettered access, etc.)
