I knew what the conservative playbook on Kavanaugh would be when the first thing a “serious” one presented to me as the argument for his nomination…was a Politico piece by a “lifelong woman Democrat” that was little more than a puff piece arguing for his confirmation because of how nice a guy he is. Not arguing his record or his views (both, she argued, would matter not because he’d follow the law), but arguing that he’d been so nice to her in the past that she felt he deserved a spot on the SCOTUS bench.
