Sears is pretty much gone from the West Coast. The store I worked at back in the day, up in the Portland, OR metro area, closed a couple years back.
It’s another case study of a business maximizing short term profit and not making long range plans. They had everything set up with Prodigy to go full blast into the Internet and instead they decided to buy Dean Witter, Coldwell Banker & H&R Block while starting up the Discover card because their MBA’s said it was easier to get into finance and nobody would really want to shop from home…
