They all believe their gun porn fan fiction which tells them that being armed automatically makes a person a highly trained crack shot that can miraculously shoot the right person at the right time in the right place and be the hero of the story. It never occurs to them that any other outcome is even possible.

As I recall, there was someone with a gun at the Giffords shooting in Tucson. The guy immediately realized that it would have made things even worse to pull it out. That’s what the gun fuckers don’t get. An already chaotic situation is going to be made dozen times more chaotic by some fuckwit pulling a gun out.
