in 2017 it’s more offensive to be called out as a racist than to actually be racist

The standard counter arguments are “You are a racist for bringing up the topic of race.”

or “If you are going to call me a racist for (fill in blank here) then, yeah, I am a racist!”

and others will insist that they are simply “racial realists” and based their views of (dubious and disputed) scientific evidence.

And they will all tell you that they have at least one black friend.

I personally am hesitant to use the term “racist” because it has turned into little more than a trigger word for a shouting match.
