A bit different: hardly anybody in the country knew who Brett Kavanaugh was til he got the SCOTUS nom: Donald Trump was already a “celebrity” when he started his run. I think the “media” in general, during the campaign, actually did a reasonable job in exposing Trump’s business “successes” as the shuck-and-jive string of failures they were. But you’re right: the voters didn’t care much: most likely because the simple(-minded) take was easiest: Trump had spent decades polishing his reality-TV image as this fabulously wealthy and gaudily-successful tycoon: and whether consciously or not, all too many voters never bothered (or wanted) to look behind the gilded facade…
