Waiting to see if Tarrant County Republicans will dump their party vice-chair for being a Muslim:

She said the media has “vilified all of us who are opposing Shafi.”

“They say that we’re bigots, Islamophobes and white supremacists when we’re just patriots who care for our country,” she added.

While we’re waiting, I talked to a woman named Sara — who said she’s a former Tarrant Co. precinct chair — ahead of tonight’s vote. She told me she’s not Muslim but wore a burqa tonight to “represent the Islamization of our county, our state and our country.”

The “media” isn’t vilifying them, the public is. “Patriot” doesn’t mean “Ignore the I Amendment and impose a religious test.”

The GOP is a private organisation; they can exclude anyone they want from their party. I believe conservatives call exclusion “our big tent.”
