Greets and saluts from the Resistance in the hazy, hot, and humid NYC metro area.
The weather here is typical summer, but it’s anything but typical in DC these days.

Irony: GOP effort to destroy health coverage for millions may be derailed because key GOP senator diagnosed with aggressive brain cancer
— lawhawk (@lawhawk) July 20, 2017
As a member of Congress, it’s his job to care. They cared so much when Obama was doing his job. Trump undermining natsec and GOP all 🤗🤔

Yeah, the GOP refuses to do its job in oversight against a fellow GOPer who’s in the WH and running roughshod over the law on a daily basis all while undermining US national security daily. The GOP has so far refused to take action against one of their own in Congress, despite all the evidence showing collusion between Russians and Rep. Dana Rohrabacher. They’ve known that Trump and Rohrabacher were both up to their eyeballs in Russia shenanigans, and instead joke about it instead of launching investigations and doing their jobs.
The GOP sees their jobs as enabling Trump, obstructing investigations, and undermining the civil and voting rights of Americans all while plotting to deprive tens of millions of health coverage.
No good can come from any of this, but it has been a clarifying moment. The GOP can no longer claim to be the party of national security or strong on defense, when Trump’s giving away the farm and put US foreign policy on a trajectory to aid and abet Russia while undermining our allies and our own strategic interests around the world.
And for what? So Trump can make sure that he gets out of debt from Russians who have leveraged him to the hilt and know he’s easily compromised? The GOP easily flipped to support Trump, and you have to look no further than the RNC platform that was rewritten to be more pro-Russian, despite the fact that the GOP has historically been wary of what Russia does.
So what now? McCain’s brain cancer is a new wrinkle in the health care debate, but the reality is that McCain had no problems with any of the health care plans that would eliminate health coverage of tens of millions of Americans, including many in Arizona. It’s just ironic that brain cancer might help stop Trumpcare in its tracks (for at least a brief moment).
