re: #191 BlueGrl21

Thank you.

Wanted to get the male view from my husband and mixed-ideology coworkers on it. They all said the same thing. It’s about the hypocrisy of Senator Franken. He’s been a liberal fighter while he had these pictures and accusations going around, not all anonymous. How can we be throwing a fit over Moore and Trump and Weinstein and even Bill O and Matt Lauer, and yet Senator Franken does it, with photographic evidence, and we think he deserves an exception?

It’s simple to them. They see him as a hypocrite. They see any man who talks about caring about the rights and protection of women while not living that out in their private lives as hypocrites. And they see the Democrats claiming to be the party of women and then appearing to protect someone who they feel clearly (the photos) sexually harassed a female SOLDIER. Asleep.

Judge Roy Moore is a hypocrite. He claims to protect women while he was assaulting 14 year-olds in his 30s. Donald Trump is the biggest hypocrite I’ve had the displeasure of being aware of. Bill Clinton was a hypocrite for being involved with Monica Lewinsky. You can’t hold yourself up as a fighter for women and then behave like that.

I am tired of this whole thing. Roy Moore and Donald Trump are pieces of shit, Al Franken is not. Al is paying a price they are not. But the Republican Party has never presented itself as the champions of women. We have. So we’re held to a higher standard as a result.

People don’t see the political chess match. They see, “Yeah, he held himself up as a liberal champion but look at what was going on. He’s a hypocrite. So are Democrats.”

That’s the optics we have to be aware of.

Excuse the mansplaining, but that was not a female SOLDIER. It was a civilian female entertainer, later to be a RW radio personality, on a USO tour.
