A really frustrating thing for me is that neither party goes after wealthy white collar criminals anymore.
Bernie Madoff being an exception in the past decade, but he stole from the rich.
Trump should have been in prison for tax evasion and money laundering, but stop and frisk Rudy gave him a pass.
Bill Clinton gave those guys a pass and even pardoned Marc Rich.
Obama’s DOJ didn’t even attempt to prosecute any of the guys who caused the 2008 crash.
Hell, the last administration that went after white collar criminals hard core was Bush 41 after the S&L crisis.
Democrats should adopt a though on white collar crime stance.

The problem is that white collar crimes involving involving complicated financial transactions are often very difficult to investigate and expensive to prove. 10-15 years ago I listened to a radio report concerning an accountant for a large firm who marketed a complicated tax evasion scheme that they assured their clients could never be unraveled by the government because the government lacked the expertise. The government may prefer to go after simpler cases, rather than the big case with potentially huge payoff.
