There’s some great (i.e. insane) reverse logic going on there.

“If you walk in my ways I will remove violent beasts from the land.”

Therefore, if we murder a bunch of bears, that PROVES we’re a-ok with the big man upstairs. I rest my case.

The sticking point for me seems to be that the text says that GOD will remove the beasts, not that we should shoot them all ourselves.
