It could easily be true, but doesn’t mean much. Those same founding fathers had no problem envisioning a country where blacks were enslaved and counted as three fifths of a person for census purposes.

The founding fathers were gigantic assholes who also happened to have some good, long lasting ideas about the structure of democracy.
