Kids don’t run around their neighborhoods anymore. After school, weekends, on holidays, their time is spent in a child care setting or participating in supervised activities.

Parent’s no longer trust their kids are safe outside without supervision.

This is largely the media’s fault. The world is actually a safer place for kids today than it was when most of us were growing up but any time something horrific happens anywhere in the country you hear about it non stop. Me and my brothers used to go out and ride our bikes(without helmets even) sometimes miles from home as long as we made it back before it got dark. No cell phones either so our parents mostly just trusted us. It’s a miracle entire generations didn’t just die in an alley somewhere…
