The South ironically despite being historically one of the poorest regions has with some exceptions I.e Huey Long and the Readjusters of the 1880’s not been a fertile ground for left wing populism. Unions never took up there. It’s why people like D’Sousa are being obtuse to just bring up the party label of Dixiecrats and act like they were liberals or even leftist.
