I thought of that today too with all the reminders of 3rd Position, white supremacists, JBS nuts, and other radicals and apologists in the early stages of the Tea Party. Who would have thought making excuses for radicals at protests could cause a problem?
I will give some of the old wingnuts some credit, there were folks who got involved with their local Tea Parties and tried to marginalize the nuts. Not nearly enough but at least some of them tried.
