They’ve had a long history of exaggerating claims.

They’re claiming that they’ve gone and created a home grown stealth fighter.

I’m going to lean towards BS, precisely because the Iranians don’t have a home grown aircraft to their name. Their most modern aircraft are primarily Russian in origin and there’s rumors of sales of Chinese fighters, but nothing concrete.

It’s highly unlikely that a country that hasn’t built a home grown fighter, let alone a 4G fighter, will suddenly come out and produce a 5G fighter - there’s a learning curve that comes with working with the kinds of materials and equipment needed to build. And then there’s the issue of the engines - a fighter is only as good as the engines - are they copying a Russian or Chinese design?

All that look like is a (not even full scale) mockup, trotted out specifically for consumption for Western media; notice the English markings.
