Great thing about medical savings accounts is that you get to pretend you’re doing something, and the fact that low-paid workers can’t afford to put anything into them gives you an opportunity to shame them for their lack of both responsibility and success!

Meanwhile, all the people who are good enough and important enough all have employer-provided health insurance and don’t need the MSA’s

On top of which, anyone who DOES manage to put away a little money in an MSA - say, somebody self-employed but moderately successful - will think it’s a great idea, right up until they actually get sick and discover just how fast it vanishes!
