Exactly. If I’m put on trial for blackmailing my brother, I don’t get to ask that the defense call him as a witness in an unrelated matter. Trump’s more or less admitted that he only wanted it to look like the Ukrainian government was doing something against the Bidens. It’s why you have to laugh when you hear how Trump was so deeply concerned about corruption in Kyiv. It’s a fucking joke. He wanted something to go after Biden on and he was willing to threaten Ukrainian national security to do it. That should scare the hell out of people. Ukraine is our ally in a key spot and what’s more, they want to be pro-democracy and transparent government. Trump’s mess really is hurting that.

they have no knowledge, firsthand or otherwise about these events
