Didn’t Cohen invest in taxi medallions? Terrible investment as it turns out, but I don’t know if it was illegal.

It wasn’t illegal at the time, any more than garbage hauling or the concrete business, but there was a prevalent culture of gangstery people getting into these businesses and using gangstery methods to pad the books

(taxis were a great way to launder money; cash business, forged trip logs, manually adjusted odometers….)
