So, in news from Czech Republic, Karel Gott has passed away at the age of 80.

He was much beloved here and even though his style of music isn’t mine, there’s no denying the impact he had on Czech popular culture. And he had a damn good voice, too; he was often referred to as the “Frank Sinatra of the East”.

There’s plans for a state funeral and an official day of mourning, to be determined.
