They did not FEEL or THINK that it was a massive tragedy in which 4,000 “babies” died.

Because they KNOW that an embryo has great worth as a potential person, but that it is not yet a person.

- naturally fertilized eggs are god’s will and so they count
- artificially fertilized eggs dont (at least not yet)

conversely

- natural miscarriages are (generally) god’s will
- any artificial means is not - (apparently god’s power does not extend to the decision or the process here)
