I refuse to believe that. The televised police brutality in the sixties repulsed the nation and made civil rights legislation possible.

We do have those moments.

We also have MacArthur and his troops clearing out the Bonus marchers without even a peep from the population. Multiple massacres of strikers and not a peep outside of the unions. Tulsa and the other “riots” that Americans cheered on.

And don’t even forget September 11, 1973.

I could continue but I think the point is made. I do not think we can assume that the one will happen again when so many other things have happened instead.
