A friend took me to the Tibetan monastery on the outskirts of Bloomington in the early oughts, but I had a similar response as yours. For awhile, you might get to see Richard Gere or some of the other celebs who were into that form of Buddhism in town.

I used to hang out with the Hare Krishnas in Bloomington because they offered free Sunday dinners and the cafeteria was closed after Sunday breakfast.

A friend of mine hangs out with the Krishas in London, she says she likes the community and helps with their food services and sometimes gets to attend a retreat at George Harrison’s estate.
