I’ve been thinking about trump serving turkey sandwiches and chips to the Coasties on Thanksgiving. Since I’m sure the Coast Guard provided the meal, I’m wondering if was a back-handed way for the Coast Guard to protest the significant reductions to their budget. If it was, everyone missed the message.

Well, I thought the meal was at a Coast Guard facility. I’m sure every military base in the world attempts to serve a hot turkey dinner on Thanksgiving. Even in combat areas. It’s been a tradition for years.

Even when there are major wildfires burning on Thanksgiving the fire camps serve a hot turkey meal. (Some are good, some are really bad.)

I seriously doubt the USCG provided the sandwiches and chip.
As you well know, the US military takes great pride in the hoops it is willing to jump through in order to provide every service member with a proper Thanksgiving meal.
I can not fathom any leader, in any branch of service, who would approve of such a meal plan.
My assumption, given the small size of USCG Station Lake Worth Inlet, is that the unit would have set up a pot-luck meal. With the unit providing portions of the meal, and family members bringing others. Likely later in the day.
So, given the relatively early visit by Trumps & crew, the administration staff had the absurd chow brought in so Trump could look gracious.
