Ellis is precisely the kind of activist judge that the GOP and Trump want. They want ideologues who don’t care about the rule of law or the rules or sentencing guidelines when their guys are the ones who are prosecuted.

Yet, when it’s a poor or minority defendant before their court, moan about how “awful” those same guidelines are…right before giving the defendant the maximum allowable sentence.
