Example 4: The DMV.

I would like for health care to be more affordable, and for the poor to be able to get better care more efficiently. The government’s track record is just too poor for me to trust them to take care of it.

Oh. Give me. A. Break.

So sick of the “GOVERNMENT SUX LOOKIT THE DMV” meme. The DMV in Oregon is awesome. I get my DEQ and my tabs from one place. I pull up to the testing station with the form that arrived in the mail, they hooked up my fire engine red 1996 Volvo 850R wagon to the OBD jack next to the cigarette lighter, no line, no wait, the two friendly guys running the station joked with me about the crappy weather for a minute, they looked at the OBD reading, said my Volvo passed emissions, and I paid my money for registration, got my tabs in the little baggie and the DEQ results, and I was done.

In and out in?

under 3 minutes. I timed it BECAUSE OF THIS ARGUMENT.

If health care reform is anything like my DMV experiences have been in Oregon, I’ll jump up and down like I just won a refrigerator on the Price is Right.
