Really strong imagery, there. Bit of the Wandering Aengus.

I find cultural stories fascinating. They often describe how groups identify themselves and can be quite powerful. The inner-narrative, so to speak.

One recent example I bumped into was a song by Gjallerhorn. I have posted other songs by them on lgf.

This song is in Finnish, which I find quite impenetrable. Using Google Translate rendered a very incoherent translation into English.

Something about digging up a burning caterpillar and burning the whole place down. I wondered whether the song was an allegory about finding a nuclear bomb or digging up a demon ala Lord of the Rings Mines of Moria.

Then I saw a reference that it was based upon the Finnish Kalevala Saga. A poem written in the late 19th Century.

Still working on this. But it’s a journey, not a destination.

By the way, note the very “Scandinavian” didgeridoo. :)
